After Easter 2012, a very bright moon was predicted. Here I decided I wanted to capture the moon rise over the water of the ocean - at sunset. As it edged over the horizon, the moon glowed a pinky orange colour that was nothing short of incredible.
As a bright full moon rose as the sun set, it illuminated the ocean and beach, and amazing colours danced along the sky.
Perhaps the best morning out I have had - perfect rays of early morning light and clouds that reflected the light almost perfectly.
On this morning, there was a ghostly calm amongst the round rocks of Burleigh Heads as a storm rolled in from the distance. Waves crashed as I climbed closer to the water only to be pushed back up high to the rock I was perched upon.
As you walk the path to the beach, you can hear the rustle of the water as is trickles out to the ocean. Around 3am, the ocean was calm as the moon lit the creek bed and the tannin stained current rushed past my feet to the waiting waves.
This image is taken on a very early morning as the sun rose, before sunrise on Dicky Beach. The wreck of the SS Dicky rests amongst the waves. The subtle pre-dawn light illuminates this aged wreck.
